arbitrary, dumb, pointless and patronizing

I refer to the gender-neutral language in the NAB. In reality, it's not gender neutral, its just anti-masculine. Otherwise how do we explain the change in Psalm 1:

From the RSV
1: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2: but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

From the NAB
1: Happy those who do not follow the counsel of the wicked, Nor go the way of sinners, nor sit in company with scoffers.
2: Rather, the law of the LORD is their joy; God's law they study day and night.

... vs. the lack of change in Proverbs 9?

From the RSV
1: Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven pillars.
2: She has slaughtered her beasts, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table.
3: She has sent out her maids to call from the highest places in the town,
4: "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!" To him who is without sense she says,
5: "Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed.
6: Leave simpleness, and live, and walk in the way of insight."

From the NAB
1 Wisdom has built her house, she has set up her seven columns;
2 She has dressed her meat, mixed her wine, yes, she has spread her table.
3 She has sent out her maidens; she calls from the heights out over the city:
4 "Let whoever is simple turn in here; to him who lacks understanding, I say,
5 Come, eat of my food, and drink of the wine I have mixed!
6 Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way of understanding.

I just don't get it.
